Pico staff switch to ‘dark mode’ for Earth Hour 2023

Some 2,200 Pico staff in 35 cities around the world will be doing their part for a better environment during this year’s Earth Hour.

Joining millions of others, they will switch off all non-essential lights and electrical equipment at their offices and homes for one hour, starting at precisely 8:30pm (local time) on Saturday 25 March. The activity adds Pico’s voice to a message about helping the planet and reducing energy use.

Participants keen to contribute more are encouraged to ‘Give an Hour for Earth’ by spending 60 minutes learning about or improving the environment, or just reconnecting with nature or inspiring others. (visit the Earth Hour page for a few ideas).

Pico staff will also be reaching out to other people and businesses by spreading the ‘#BiggestHourForEarth’ Earth Hour campaign hashtag on social media, and by sending special e-cards to clients and friends.

First held in 2007 and organised by the World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour’s meaning goes beyond just saving energy; it raises awareness of the state of our planet, its future, and the dangers posed by climate change and loss of biodiversity. Today, people and organisations from over 190 countries and territories participate in the event.

Pico has been a keen supporter of Earth Hour for a decade under Pico Global Care in Action, its corporate social responsibility initiative. For staff members, Earth Hour is an annual reminder to use resources responsibly and help businesses grow sustainably.
